Griffioen Wassenaar BV is one of the large perennial plant nurseries in the Netherlands. The company was founded in 1923 by the present owner’s grandfather. Over the last fifteen years the main focus has been on developing sales on the garden centre market. In the year 2000 Griffioen Wassenaar first started exporting within Europe. By now we are exporting to eleven countries.

Griffioen Wassenaar’s plants can be recognised by the dark blue pots. The square pot sized 11 x 11 cm that we mostly use is not used by many other producers. The range comprises some 800 varieties forms.

Griffioen boasts a lot of expertise on the presentation of perennials, which we like to share with our buyers. After all it is in the common interest of both the nursery and the garden centre that the customer is offered an optimum service.

A recent addition are ‘themed posters’ as an alternative to ‘individual’ product information. These enable the garden centre to give the consumer a good idea of the eventual result of the purchase.

In the autumn of 2005 Griffioen started reintroducing perennials in the public parks and gardens programme. The spearhead of this development has been sharing knowledge between nursery and buyer. Griffioen will continue to work on improving quality and presentation. The large number of satisfied customers at home and abroad is evidence of the success of our efforts.
